Healthy Brownie Batter Dip

There are no possible words nor any combination of words which I can possibly come up with which would adequately describe how amazing this Healthy Brownie Batter Dip is. I mean, just look at those words and give them time to soak in. Healthy. Brownie. Batter. Dip.

After the success of my Healthy Egg-Free Cookie Dough Dip post that I recently updated with new photos and a new recipe, I had a craving to create a new dip on the same basis. A dessert everyone loves in dip form and healthified.

Healthy Brownie Batter Dip #Recipe - it's #glutenfree #vegan (if you use non-dairy milk and chocolate) and tastes just like brownie batter! Can't believe this stuff is good for you - I eat it by the spoon! | www.happyhealthymotivated.com

Out of all the batters and doughs in the world, brownie batter has got to be my favourite. I just cannot stop myself from grabbing a spoon and 'taste testing' at every stage possible when baking brownies.

You know the part where you melt the dark chocolate and the butter together? Well every time I make brownies I weigh out additional chocolate and butter because I know I won't be able to resist. That's how bad it's gotten!

Whilst I'd love to snack on nothing but brownie batter all day, I'm well aware that it's not healthy. So in an effort to satisfy my ever-present cravings for brownie batter and create and amazing recipe that you'll love at the same time, this Healthy Brownie Batter Dip was born.

It's made with pretty much the same stuff as the Healthy Egg-Free Cookie Dough Dip - garbanzos, oats, sugar, milk and vanilla extract, but this one also includes cocoa powder. All the ingredients are tossed into the food processor and mixed until they make a smooth batter-like dip, which means there's hardly any work for you - yay!

The taste really is beyond this world - it's the perfect amount of sweet and chocolatey. The thick, almost fluffy texture is amazing, too, and really does give you the impression that you're snacking on brownie batter - all for a fraction of the calories!

I only added the chocolate chips for the photo - I think this Healthy Brownie Batter Dip is perfectly delicious and indulgent-feeling without them, but if you can't imagine brownie batter without chocolate chips, then feel free to throw them in.

Whilst the garbanzo flavour certainly isn't as evident in this dip as it is in the Healthy Egg-Free Cookie Dough Dip, I still wouldn't really recommend this to anyone who already didn't like garbanzos. I love garbanzos and whilst I personally couldn't taste them at all in the dip, I'm pretty sure if you hate garbanzos you'll definitely be able to taste them and I hate the thought of a whole batch of this being thrown into the bin!

So whatever plans you have for this weekend, whip up a batch of this Healthy Brownie Batter Dip to accompany them! It can only turn your already awesome plans into even more weekend incredibleness.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups canned garbanzos drained and rinsed
  • ¼ cup oats
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • optional: chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Throw all the ingredients (except the chocolate chips, if you're using them) into a food processor and blend until you have a smooth, even mixture. This can take up to 5 minutes.
  • You'll need to stop the processor and scrape the insides down with a spatula every now and then to make sure everything gets mixed together.
  • When smooth, stir the chocolate chips in with a spoon if you're using them.
  • Scoop the brownie batter into an air-tight container and store in the fridge.

I am still tempted to try this even though I really don't like garbanzo beans, I could make a smaller portion to see what I thought. I want to at least say I tried a dessert made with beans! Even if I don't wind up liking it the pics look amazing and tempting! 😀

  2. Blair @ The Seasoned Mom

Yum! I love the idea of "healthy" and "brownie batter" in the same sentence...didn't think it was possible! Can't wait to try this!

  6. Carly @ A Neat Nest

Holy moly... that looks amazing! I can't believe you made that out of garbanzo beans. Crazy. I do the same thing with the butter and melted chocolate. The worst is when you forget that it's unsweetened chocolate and dip in a finger to taste. And it laughs back in your face... :/ Thanks for the recipe!
