Ever since I had my first beergarita in Orlando last June, I haven't been able to get the thought of the specialist cocktail out of my mind. I'm not sure how adding beer to a margarita recipe makes the resulting cocktail oh-so-much better, but it does. It really, really does!
My mother-in-law arrives to stay with us for ten days today, so it seemed only fitting that I share a cocktail recipe! Whilst she's absolutely wonderful in small doses, ten days of 24/7 mother-in-law can sometimes be a too much to handle. However, I find her a lot easier to deal with when I've had a cocktail or two and out of all the spring cocktails I was browsing on Pinterest, this recipe for Limoncello Margarita really caught my eye.
But - as I'm sure most of you know by now - I can never follow a recipe to the T and changed the delightfully zesty margarita recipe into a blow-your-mind delicious beergarita recipe! There's something about the spiciness of the tequila, the sweet citrus of the limoncello and the refreshing fizz of the lemon beer in this recipe that makes it way better than any of the lemon margarita recipes I've ever tried.
I was toying with the idea of turning this into a frozen beergarita (everyone loves frozen cocktail recipes the most, right?) but since it's spring has just sprung and the sweltering heat of summer hasn't hit yet, I thought I'd keep it like an ordinary cocktail and ditch the frozen part. My decision might have also had something to do with the fact that I wanted a cocktail right this very second and didn't want to wait for things to freeze...
Which do you prefer? Do you like to keep things simple with ordinary margarita recipes or jazz it up a bit with beergarita recipes?
📖 Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 oz tequila
- 2 oz limoncello
- 1 oz triple sec
- 25 cl / 9oz lemon beer
- slices lemon for garnish
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients, except the lemon slices, into a jar and stir.
- Evenly divide the cocktail between two glasses.
- Decorate the glasses with lemon slices, if you like, and then serve immediately.
