Santa's Little Helper Cocktail

We've got to that point in the festive season where every now and then I get a burst of Christmas butterflies in my stomach and run around like a little kid getting all excited because Christmas is coming! And that's when I'm just sat at my desk working. When we're wrapping presents, putting up the decorations or sipping on Christmas party cocktails, that exciting festive feeling is multiplied by a million.

I've always been excited for Christmas and it's something that I've just never grown out of. From a foodie aspect, there's just so much to love about the holiday! There's all the Christmas baking - sweet mince pies, anyone? - the Christmas Day menu to plan - definitely making these amazing honey-glazed carrots and parsnips this year - and, of course, Christmas drink recipes!

My favourite Christmas cocktails are those which are easy to make in a big batch for a party or just one single-serving glass to sip whilst relaxing in a bubble bath. Vodka-spiked mulled wine is great and all, but you can't make just one glass of it - you've got to make the whole bottle. With this Santa's Little Helper cocktail, on the other hand, you can make just one glass of the stuff or 17 jugs in pretty much the same amount of time for the same effort.

The best Christmas cocktails recipes include vodka, don't you think? It's just one of those spirits that has such little flavour that pretty much everyone likes it. Except the designated drivers who just glare at you as you hand them an ordinary glass of plain cranberry juice instead of a fun Christmas cocktail. You know what else you need for an awesome holiday cocktail recipe? The colour red! And a little bit of green if you can sneak it in in the form of a lime, like I did here. You can also add green in the form of mint or basil.
