I told you it was worth the wait, didn’t I? Some people (not me) opt for a healthy smoothie for breakfast and some people (not me) simply grab a cup of coffee in the morning and call that breakfast before rushing out of the door.
Some extra-special people (that’s me) combine the two and throw a bit of chocolate in, too to make the on-the-go breakfasts of all on-the-go-breakfasts – a chocolate espresso smoothie. If this sounds like the kind of breakfast you can get behind, you’re my kind of person!
I’ve never really been a smoothie-for-breakfast sort of person. Sure, I’ll drink one with breakfast, but not for breakfast, if you know what I mean. But this chocolate espresso smoothie? I can totally drink that for breakfast because in my mind it’s more dessert than breakfast. So not only am I giving you a way to have dessert for breakfast, but I’m giving you a healthy way to eat dessert for breakfast. I’m so good to you guys.
You heard me – this chocolate espresso smoothie is healthy! It’s made with very basic ingredients – one banana, a splash of milk, a dollop of honey, a sprinkle of hot chocolate powder and a dash of strong coffee or espresso powder. See? No added sugar or fat and yet it still tastes great! Go ahead and treat yourself to an indulgent (and secretly healthy!) breakfast this Friday. Enjoy!
Chocolate Espresso Smoothie
- 1 slices frozen banana cut into
- 2/3 cup cold milk
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 4 teaspoons hot chocolate powder
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee or espresso granules
- Place all the ingredients into a blender and process for a few minutes until smooth.
- Pour into a fancy glass or portable beaker if you're in a rush and enjoy!
