Sangria is just the perfect drink, don’t you think? Not only does everyone love sangria, but it’s so versatile that you can tailor it to suit your taste. Don’t believe my word blindly, have a peek in my archives if you need any proof.
This is the recipe I’d planned on sharing with you last week but it didn’t work out because, well, I forgot to buy wine and berries and they’re kinda the main ingredients, you know?
Everything White Sangria, Frozen Sangria, Fall Sangria and Sparkling Summer Sangria are what I’ve managed to come up with so far, as well as this Very Berry Sangria, of course. All you need is a few spirits, a handful of fruit, some lemonade and you can turn any boring bottle of wine into something quite spectacular.
This Very Berry Sangria has been made using sparkling white wine, but feel free to use your favourite still white wine if you prefer. The wine really does make up the main flavour of the drink, so you definitely want to choose a wine you enjoy drinking on its own.
It also tastes much better after you’ve let it to sit for a while, but it was tough getting the timings right so the flavours had time to fully infuse but the wine wasn’t left open so long that the fizz was completely lost. If you’re going to use sparking wine, I recommend leaving it to sit for no longer than 45 to ensure there’s still some fizz left.
If you want to make this Very Berry Sangria suitable for little ones to enjoy, or you just don’t really fancy a drink, you can sub out all the sparkling wine for lemonade – it still tastes great! Happy Friday 🙂
Very Berry Sangria
- 1 bottle sparkling white wine
- 2 shots strawberry vodka
- 2 shots triple sec
- 1 cup lemonade
- handful of strawberries blackberries and raspberries (or whatever berries you have on hand)
- Pour all the ingredients into a large jug and stir.
- Leave in the fridge for 30-45 minutes for the flavours to infuse before pouring and serving.
